Omar will fight to pass the New York for All Act, ensuring that the immigrants who make this city what it is can live without fear.
He will fight to ensure that New York State resources are never used to aid federal immigration enforcement. He supports legislation like the MELT Act to increase transparency and accountability, including banning face coverings and plainclothes operations by ICE agents.
Omar stands firmly against hate and violence in all its forms. Across our district, we have seen an unacceptable increase in hate crimes against our Muslim, Jewish, and Asian neighbors. This is not who we are. Omar will fight for immigrants, communities of color, and religious groups.
As hate crimes rise across New York targeting immigrants, communities of color, and religious groups, Omar will fight for stronger enforcement and harsher penalties for those who commit these acts. Hate has no place in our city.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, on their commute, and in their own home. That means not only keeping ICE out of our communities, but also ensuring New York takes a zero-tolerance approach to hate and intimidation.
